What to expect here ?
Well the title says it all.
If you are a Photoshop user and interested in converting color negatives to positive, you can download some 'Actions' here that might help you.
If you are a Lightroom user your best option for good results can be found here: https://www.negativelabpro.com
I have absolutely no commercial intentions. The only reason I made this website is that it has taken me quite some time to come to a good workflow and I just want to share this.

Before you start
Most of us don't want to read long explanations.
But there are a few things you should know before downloading and starting to experiment:
But there are a few things you should know before downloading and starting to experiment:
- I only use Photoshop (CS6 ) and Camera Raw.
- You don't have to sample the orange mask. This helps a lot because most slide holders hide the borders of the negative.
- The actions expect the negative in the bottom layer and this layer must be called 'Background' (so not 'Layer 1' ). This must be the only layer.
- Conversion works best if you start from RAW files (iso Jpegs). If you are a DSLR scanner this is the most logical approach.
- Start by loading the file in Camera Raw. Straighten and crop so that only the picture is visible. The borders must not be visible.
- If the original is not a RAW file you can still open it in Camera Raw by selecting (in Photoshop) : File >Open As. Browse to the file and in the lower dropdown box (Open As) select ' Camera Raw (*.Tif, *.CRW, *.NEF ......)'
- In Camera RAW set the White Balance to 'Auto'.
- Now run one of the actions.
- The actions also generate a few layers that are not part of the conversion process. I use these layers for fine-tuning if needed.
- At the end the actions select the negative layer and activate the Spot Healing Brush (for dust cleanup).
Download here. The actions contain no artificial colors, additives or viruses. They are completely gluten-free.
